About

I am an Assistant Professor of Learning, Design, and Innovation at Florida Gulf Coast University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Math Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology.

Currently, my primary research interest is exploring embodied forms of teaching and learning in technology-rich settings. Inspired by theories of place and space, mobility, embodied cognition, and boundary objects, my research focuses on the practices athletes and coaches leverage to interpret data and use it to improve their performances. In a recent article, I explore how golf instructors and students teach and learn through the use and transformation of their bodies in a data-rich Golf Teaching and Learning Center (GTRC). I’m drawn, in particular, to how instructors use their body in-the-moment to collaborate with students and translate discrete data about students’ performances. More specifically, in the GTRC where data is ubiquitous, my analysis focalizes on how data is “felt,” as instructors and students collaboratively work together to interpret and negotiate it to support their practice.

I have also conducted and published research exploring video games, embodied forms of learning with VR, project-based learning, online learning, and game design.
